Freedom Martial Arts is an incredible school! My son has been a student for years. We have attended classes at both Bridgewater and Hillsborough and the instructors at both locations are top-notch! They are knowledgeable, patient, and motivating, and they make class fun and rewarding. Before finding Freedom Martial Arts we tried several other schools in the area - none compare!

We love Freedom Martial Arts!! My daughter started with them the day they opened their doors. She has been going 3 days a week since that day! She has even become a junior instructor, that's how much she loves it. The staff is great and very attentive to anything we need. The kickboxing classes are a bonus for me!!!

My extremely introverted daughter started here a couple of weeks ago Md it has been amazing! Typically, it takes her at least three classes to warm up to one instructor if she even finds one she clicks with, but she was completely comfortable with Ms. Vanessa within 20 minutes of the first class and couldn't wait to come back! I was nervous the first time we had different instructors, but my daughter didn't even bat an eye which has literally never happened in our lives. Everyone here is clearly so well trained and so naturally comfortable working with kids that they know instinctually how to respond to a variety of ping sized personalities do that they all get exactly the kind of attention that they need. I could not be happier that we chose this place for her!!

We just LOVE Freedom Martial Arts. My boys have been practicing with them for quite a while and every time we go there I see a sparkle in their eyes. It's very intense and educational type of practice mixed with lots of fun. The instructors are very dedicated and always willing to help. Definitely, it is the best place in town

I HIGHLY recommend Freedom Martial Arts Karate studio! Our son started a short while ago and is already having such a great experience! If you have an interest just come out to the school and take a look for yourself. The instructors are amazing...full of energy, passionate, and incredible with the kids. I would highly recommend this school to any parent or adult who wants a superior program for his/her child or for one’s own martial arts training.

My son has been in TKD for 10 years. We've been at Freedom for the last year and the experience has been outstanding. This place is all positive reinforcement, always high energy and completely thought- out classes. Instructors are excellent as well as consistent and the overall feeling of this place is just great.

STORM TEAM – Tomorrow’s Leaders

Mentoring has been around for many years and has shown to have many positive outcomes for all participants. At Freedom Martial Arts, the mentoring program that is implemented is called the STORM Team, or Special Team of Role Models. This is a “peer” type mentoring program that is very structured and incorporates a full curriculum and training system. The members are hand-chosen by their instructors and the process and outcomes of this near-peer mentoring approach benefit both students and mentors.

Although mentoring is not a new topic,  Our peer mentoring provides a new variation to this timeless approach. This method of mentoring involves people that are closer in age, although the mentor is still old enough to act as a role-model. The biggest advantage to this, however, is that the mentor has a stronger element of relatability than in a typical mentoring relationship. Mentors that are closer in age to the students often have more success in reaching them than adults usually do.

The STORM team is an exclusive team for Freedom Martial Arts students with aspirations of becoming leaders within the community so they are the perfect fit to be in the mentor position. STORM Team members are chosen on the highest standards of on behavior, performance, attitude, willingness to serve others, and commitment to their art. The program covers things from leadership lessons to hands on training.

In the STORM Team mentoring program, the benefits that the student gains from participating in it are invaluable. They feel more connected to their peers and have longer lasting relationships. In addition, connections with the adults they interact with are improved and they have better attitudes towards school and learning. All of these things ultimately increase their self-esteem so they are more confident to try new things and feel more equipped to handle the ups and downs of life.

But not only does this type of program benefit the students, the mentors also gain important skills. They learn a sense of responsibility while serving in this role and they also learn communication skills, relationship management, and leadership skills. Through this process, mentors also become more patient and learn to utilize active listening skills. They are often the most valuable in bridging the gap between instructors and other students. And one of the most rewarding benefits to this program is that the mentor feels a sense of self-satisfaction from their service to others. They experience the feeling of pride when their students are successful.

When children and teens take part in our STORM Team, all participants can reap the benefits. Students generally become the next set of mentors and the cycle of spreading these valuable life skills continues. This often makes the next set of mentor/student relationships easier because this has been modeled over and over again and the successes in the program build on each other.
